Does Zerona work?

Zerona is an FDA approved cold laser treatment for removal of excess fat. This technique comes with almost no side effects and patients can resume their daily routines immediately after each of the treatment sessions.

The Zerona laser device throws beams of low wavelength which stimulate and rupture the target fat cells while simultaneously avoiding any damage to tissues or blood vessels located near such cells. The fat cells then release all the liquefied content in them into the interstitial space, where it stays till the lymphatic system absorbs it.

One of the main advantages of Zerona laser is the fact that only a few sessions of treatment can help remove nearly 9 inches of fat. It may however be noted that results of Zerona laser vary in women and men. Men often require additional sessions to lose excess fat as compared to women.

Zerona – Cost

Zerona laser therapy is elective and hence not covered by insurance. A Zerona laser package that includes 6 sessions over a period of 2 weeks may cost anywhere in the range of $1500 to $3000.

Zerona Laser – The procedure

Before undergoing Zerona laser treatment, patients need to commit to a lifestyle protocol suggested by the doctor. This often includes undergoing a minimum of 6 sessions, with each session lasting for 40 minutes. The gap between 2 sessions cannot be more than 72 hours, else some fat may be taken-up/reabsorbed by the fat cells.

Zerona laser therapy has been proven to be effective in dealing with fat at different areas of the body like the hips, waist, thighs, and other places where localized deposits of fat are present and do not go away even with exercise and diet.

Patients need to lie under the Zerona laser device. There is no need for anesthesia. The cold laser beam is targeted to the area with excess fat, which in most cases include the thighs, abdomen, and the hip region. The laser works on the specified area for around 20 minutes. The patient then needs to turn around and lie on the stomach. The beam of laser then works on the back part of the treatment site for around 20 minutes. Thus, one session typically lasts for 40 minutes. Patients need to undergo such treatment sessions for a minimum of 6 times within a period of 2 weeks.

Zerona laser fat removal treatment is a fully painless procedure. It is one hundred percent non-invasive and does not cause any scarring, pain, discomfort, swelling, or bruising. Patients do not experience heat or any other kind of sensation when undergoing the treatment. Once a session is over, you can easily get back your daily activities right away. There is no downtime.

Results of Zerona treatment are evident in many patients after just a few sessions. Many have observed marked difference in their bodies after only 4 to 6 sessions.

It is important to note that the longevity of Zerona therapy is dependent on the lifestyle followed by patients after undergoing the treatment. Fat deposits will return in no time if patients lead an obese lifestyle. Regular exercising, avoiding fatty and junk foods, and eating a healthy and balanced diet will ensure that the results of Zerona laser treatment last for a long time. For best results patients need to adhere to the treatment protocol and rules which are listed below:

  • Exercise; walking for 30 minutes per day is sufficient
  • Eat healthy
  • Drink 8 to 10 glasses of water every day and keep hydrated
  • Avoid the intake of caffeine or alcohol. It may be noted that these substances hamper the lymphatic system and prevent it from metabolizing and eliminating fat, thereby reducing the effectiveness of Zerona treatment.

Zerona treatment – Exceptions

Zerona laser therapy can be used by all. However, people with pacemakers and breast-feeding and pregnant women should not undergo this treatment. Women who have delivered and want to get rid of excess fat can go for Zerona treatment about 6 weeks after childbirth.

It may also be noted that Zerona may not work very well in patients with thyroid conditions or diabetes. This is because the metabolic system in such people may be potentially weakened.

Zerona – Before and After Pictures

Difference between Zerona laser, liposuction, and other treatments

In liposuction, doctors use a cannula, which is a hollow tube of stainless steel, along with a powerful vacuum to remove a complete region of fat cells deposits present underneath the skin. It is thus an invasive method of fat removal. It is performed under anesthesia.

Zerona laser therapy, on the other hand, is a completely non-invasive procedure and does not require any form of anesthesia. Also, when compared to other non-invasive body-slimming therapies, Zerona is the safest and most effective. It is also a treatment with no side effects.
